Saddle House
Lincoln McKinlay Grey bricks are a warm, contemporary presence at Saddle House

Lincoln McKinley Grey bricks are a wonderful addition to Saddle House on the NSW Mid North Coast. We are so proud to have been involved in this incredible project, part of the enduring legacy of the late architect, Dylan Wood.
Dylan worked with Austin McFarland Architects as a fresh graduate, from 2007 to 2013. His architecture legacy lives on through his amazing projects, including his last in Saddle House.

Joss McNamara Builder and Austin McFarland Architects worked together to bring Dylan and his client’s design vision to a sensational reality in 2024.
Nestled into the hillside between two mountains, Dylan’s vision was to maximise the views of rolling hills, mountains and dams. Responding to its natural surroundings with bends and elongations furthers the experience of place. It’s a beautifully crafted, off-grid home combining architecture with handcrafted details.
Our McKinley Grey bricks are combined with a palette of wonderfully textured and varied natural materials including polished river stone concrete, Australian hardwood floors, Queensland spotted gum weatherboards, and natural stone. We love the home’s gentle curves and smooth surfaces that enhance its unique shape.
Used both inside and out they deliver contemporary warmth to this natural palette, and are a perfect complement to the palette.
Saddle House operates primarily as a one-bedroom home, with master suite, kitchen, pantry, living and dining room, and three additional bedrooms and a separate living space can be opened up for guests. Because this home is designed for everyday living, and entertaining.
Despite the challenges of remote building, every detail was completed with absolute precision, delivering a truly innovative architectural masterpiece.
